Our History
Community Care Myanmar (CCM) is a grass roots community service organization presently based outside of Yangon City. CCM works with squatter communities that have developed on the outskirts of this former capital. These impoverished communities are comprised of relocated city dwellers itinerant farmers, mountain people, and displaced families from Cyclone Nargis. Seeing a need for energetic, nonprofit work in this area, we formed our organization to provide sensible solutions. We've consistently grown since then, all thanks to the helping hands of this amazing community!
The Challenges
In these type communities there are few, if any, government services. There are usually no schools available, no running water, few jobs, little police presence or infrastructure. The people of these communities live in great uncertainty knowing that they can be evicted at any time and would have to move on to find only once again similar prospects. As a consequence of this instability children are deprived of basic education, medical needs
are unattended, and families often experience food insecurity.
